Who we are

We’re Heather and Donnie — a married couple whose lives have been radically transformed by recovery, faith, and the relentless grace of God. We don’t just talk about addiction and healing — we’ve lived it. Donnie is a sober alcoholic who found freedom in 2013 after years of destructive patterns and silent suffering. Heather is a former heroin addict who began her recovery journey in 2016, clawing her way out of darkness with nothing but desperation, a mustard seed of hope, and the belief that something better had to be possible.

Our individual paths were messy, painful, and at times nearly hopeless — but somehow, through recovery rooms, spiritual surrender, and a whole lot of divine intervention, our lives began to change. Then, we met each other — and found something even more unexpected: a partnership rooted in honesty, shared experience, and a commitment to live differently, together.

Relevant Recovery was born out of that story. It started with raw conversations between two people who had been through hell — and realized others might need to hear that real recovery is possible, no matter how far gone things may seem. What began as a podcast has grown into a broader mission: to educate, equip, and encourage anyone impacted by addiction. Our content is unfiltered, faith-centered, and grounded in lived experience. We talk about relapse and redemption, codependency and grace, trauma and transformation — always pointing back to the truth that healing is possible when spiritual action meets real willingness and community.

Whether you’re deep in addiction, newly sober, supporting a loved one, or just searching for hope — we’re glad you found us. You’re not alone. There is a way forward. And we’re honored to walk alongside you.
