    Heather’s own powerful journey of healing fuels her passion for supporting individuals and families impacted by Substance Use Disorder. As an internationally certified Recovery Coach and Peer Support Specialist, she integrates lived experience with compassionate, practical guidance to help others find freedom and stability. Heather also co-hosts the Relevant Recovery podcast and leads community workshops that break stigma and build connection. Her work is rooted in authenticity, service, and a deep belief that recovery is possible for everyone.

  • Chris Kendrick, Vice President

    Chris brings over 16 years of personal recovery experience and a deep commitment to service work that has shaped his life and leadership. With more than three decades of professional expertise in sales and operations across the oil & gas and agriculture industries, Chris blends strategic insight with heartfelt advocacy. His passion lies in helping families affected by the disease of addiction, and he believes that recovery is not only possible—it’s transformative. As Vice President of Relevant Recovery, Chris supports the organization’s mission with integrity, empathy, and a drive to expand access to healing and hope.

  • Gigi Valera, Secretary

    Gigi was born and raised in Honduras and has made Houston her home for many years. Her professional background spans banking, oil and gas, and manufacturing, but her greatest passion outside of family has been nonprofit board leadership, which she has devoted herself to for more than thirty years. Having seen alcoholism impact her own family, Gigi deeply understands the life-changing impact of alcohol education and supportive sober living communities. She is grateful to serve on the Relevant Recovery board and is committed to helping others find the health and stability her family has experienced.

    Donnie serves as the co-host of the Relevant Recovery podcast, where he brings levity, humor, and heartfelt honesty to conversations about addiction, healing, and personal growth. His ability to make difficult topics feel approachable helps listeners feel seen, supported, and encouraged. Donnie also partners with his wife, Heather, in leading Relevant Recovery workshops, offering practical insight through his lived experience. His natural warmth, curiosity, and wit make him an invaluable part of the organization and a trusted voice within the recovery community.
