Legal & Transparency
Relevant Recovery is committed to transparency and accountability. Below are key documents and policies that show how we operate and manage donations responsibly.
1. IRS Tax-Exempt Status
Relevant Recovery is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Our IRS determination letter is available upon request.
As a newly formed nonprofit, Relevant Recovery has not yet filed its first Form 990. We are committed to transparency and will make our Form 990 publicly available once filed.
2. Gift Acceptance Policy
GIFT ACCEPTANCE POLICY FOR RELEVANT RECOVERY (RR)
This policy ensures that all gifts accepted by Relevant Recovery (RR) support and align with its mission to provide free and accessible education and support for addiction and recovery, as well as to promote public health and safe recovery communities.
Accepted Giving Sources:
RR accepts gifts in the form of cash, check, credit card, direct ACH debit, and matching donations.
Gifts In-Kind:
RR will accept in-kind donations if they provide a direct benefit to the organization’s work and mission—such as donated professional services, event space, podcast equipment, or workshop supplies. RR will issue an official acknowledgment for accepted gifts but will not assign a monetary value. Donors are responsible for determining the fair market value of their contributions.
Real Estate:
Gifts of real estate will be considered only if the property directly supports RR’s mission or operational needs. Such gifts require prior approval of the Board of Directors, based on legal counsel and a qualified independent appraisal.
Gifts Not Accepted:
At this time, RR does not accept gifts of stock, cryptocurrency, artwork, jewelry, collections, or other personal property such as vehicles.
Right to Decline:
RR reserves the right to decline any gift that does not further the organization’s mission or that may create financial, administrative, or ethical burdens for the organization.
Conflict of Interest:
All potential gifts will be evaluated to ensure that acceptance does not create a conflict of interest or compromise RR’s integrity or independence.
Acknowledgment:
RR will provide written acknowledgment for all donations, particularly those of $250 or more, in accordance with IRS regulations. Acknowledgments will be sent no later than January 31 of the year following the receipt of the donation.
Policy Review:
This policy may be reviewed and amended by the Board of Directors as the organization’s capacity and programs expand.
Adopted by Board 12-1-25
